The Szpilman Award (Deadline: September 30, 2013)

The Szpilman Award is awarded to works that exist only for a moment or a short period of time.

The purpose of the award is to promote such works whose forms consist of ephemeral situations.

The Szpilman Award is awarded annually.

The prize winner receives the Jackpot Stipendium.

This scholarship consists of three parts:

A challenge cup, 10 days of accommodation in Cimochowizna (Poland), and a sum of money in cash.

The amount of money is dynamic. Szpilman is raising money parallel to the competition. The prize winner receives the money that is raised until September 30, 2013. The current score may be checked here.

Among the applicants, one award winner will be identified.

Everyone can apply for the Szpilman Award.

Both individuals and groups of persons are free to apply.

The work must have been realized between October 1, 2012, and September 30, 2013.

To apply, send in a significant documentation. To that, fill in the application form (PDF) with name, e-mail, telephone, address, title of the work, and date of construction.

Send in application plus documentation by post to: SZPILMAN AWARD, Patrick Koch, Auguststrasse 26a, 10117 Berlin, Germany

Applications by e-mail are NOT accepted.

Documentations will NOT be returned.

10 days of accommodation in Cimochowizna (Poland) including the journey from winner’s place and back are arranged for a wonderful voyage.

Cimochowizna is an extremly small and beautiful village in a polish national park near the border to Lithuania (watch some impressions). The travel starts by plane or train to Warszawa, from there it takes estimated 5 hours by train via Suwałki to Cimochowizna.

Multi-Arts Production Fund (Deadline: October 10, 2013)

*organization grant

Administered by Creative Capital with support from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Multi-Arts Production Fund was founded on the principle that experimentation drives human progress, no less in art than in science or medicine. The fund has announced a call for Letters of Inquiry from artists, ensembles, producers, and arts presenters whose work in the disciplines of contemporary performance embodies this spirit of exploration and inquiry.

The fund is particularly interested in supporting work that examines notions of cultural difference or “the other,” be it in class, gender, generation, race, religion, sexual orientation, or other aspects of diversity. Only projects that contain a live performance will be considered.

Up to forty grants ranging from $10,000 to $45,000 will be awarded in 2013 to nonprofit arts organizations. Organizations and artists must demonstrate at least two years of professional experience, and unincorporated artists or ensembles may apply through a fiscal sponsor.
